Dreamy Portraits | Floral Double Exposures on 35mm Film
If you’ve been wondering about how I create those dreamy floral faces in my portrait work, they are all shot using the multiple exposure function on 35mm film on my trusty Canon 1n. Some of my favourite film stocks to use are Kodak Portra 160 and Kodak Ektar 100.
I started playing around with double exposures for fun when I got this camera a few years ago, and the results were so stunning and unique, it was unlike anything I had ever created before, and I knew I was on to a winner. There is something so unusual and moody about these shots, and it combines my two favourite things to photograph, portraits & flowers!
The exciting part about shooting these on analogue film, is that you don’t really know what to expect, and its such an exciting surprise getting the film developed. I’ve been playing around with different light, backgrounds, and which to shoot first, the face or the flora.
I’d love to see your photo’s if you end up trying this technique! Have fun :)
And of course, if you’d like to book in a portrait session with me and get some of these dreamy photo’s of yourself or at your wedding, send me a message!
